11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass

The name of my book I read was 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass, the first copyright date for this book was January 1, 2010, this book is humorous and reality related. The two main characters in this book are Amanda and Leo and there parents meet at the hospital the day they are born, which is on the same day. There is an old women who lives in the same town which is Willow Falls who was at the hospital that same day. And crept up behind the two families as they were watching their babies through the glass window and she said that the two children were to celebrate every birthday together and to be forever friends. The two kids from that day at the hospital have had there birthdays together since then, but lately Amanda has been growing more and more distant from Leo, because of an incident at one of there birthday parties the year before. The overall theme of this book is that your true friends stick by you no matter what.
This story was kind of broken into parts, the way it was told, it started out with the day the two kids were born, then fast forwarded and few years then fast forwarded a few more years and then goes to present time, so I would say that this book is told in the order that the events happen. This story is told in first point of view and is told by Amanda one of the main characters. The intended audience for this book is probably young teenage girls. The general genre for this book is fiction and and humorous and the book fits into this because some of the parts in the book are funny and its fits into the fictional genre because the events in this book didn't happen but they could happen. The author keeps you interested throughout the book because since the book kind of goes by the years, like showing the the two friends getting older, it makes you want to keep reading because you want to see want happens as they both get older. The author's style is addicting also, because her writing style makes you want to keep reading, and this is an effective way for the intended audience.
This book wasn't like an emotional or really touching book because it was more of a fun book hence the title 11 birthdays, so this didn't really affect or make an impact but going through all the birthdays, it made me think of all of my childhood birthdays which brought back good memories. This book did not change any ideas that I held before reading this, since this book did not change any views that I had before it doesn't fit or affect my personal world views. This book did not remind me of any books that I have read before but, it reminded me of the author Ally Carter.
I liked how the author wrote conversations between characters in detail but I didn't like really like the character Leo and he made the plot a little blurry in the book. I recommend this book for someone (probably a girl) who would want to read a fun summer book.
